FIFA 11 is a highly anticipated soccer game that offers an incredibly realistic gaming experience. Developed by EA, this latest installment in the FIFA series comes with several improvements over its predecessor, FIFA 10, making it a strong competitor to Pro Evolution Soccer 2011.
The gameplay in FIFA 11 has been refined to provide a more authentic football experience. The new Personality+ system ensures that players move and behave just like their real-life counterparts. For example, Wayne Rooney from Manchester United will actively chase after the ball when he's not in possession, while Dimitar Berbatov prefers to wait for opportunities to arise. The AI has also been enhanced, resulting in a more enjoyable gameplay. During crosses, it's now common to see multiple players going for the ball, and the players themselves are faster compared to FIFA 10.
One notable addition in FIFA 11 is the ability to control the goalkeeper, which adds an extra layer of excitement to the gameplay. Handballs have also been introduced for the first time, allowing defenders to block shots by sticking out their hands. While the frequency of handballs may be slightly higher than in real life, you have the option to disable them or restrict them from occurring in penalty situations.
The passing system in FIFA 11 has been refined, giving players more control over ball distribution. The Pro Passing feature allows for more precise passes by adjusting their weight. Additionally, the repertoire of passes has been expanded, enabling players to perform swerve passes, flicks, driven lobs, and apply backspin to balls.
However, one aspect of FIFA 11 that received mixed reviews is the new penalty kick system, which relies on a power-bar. It can be challenging to stop the pointer in the right place due to the delayed response to button presses, making scoring penalties a difficult task.
In terms of graphics, FIFA 11 may not appear drastically different from its predecessor at first glance. However, upon closer inspection, you'll notice that player likenesses have been improved, with EA using photographs to model player faces. Facial expressions are now more varied and change according to the player's actions.
FIFA 11 offers a wide range of game modes, including officially licensed leagues, exhibitions, training, and Be a Pro. The Manager mode has been revamped and is now known as Career mode, integrating with Be a Pro. This mode allows players to start as a player, progress to a player coach, and eventually become a fully-fledged manager.
With its exciting new features and intelligent gameplay, FIFA 11 is undoubtedly the ultimate soccer simulation game.
